No Universal Best Textile: Duvet Covers, Baby Blankets, and Rainbow Towels

A Standard Textile quality inspector explains why choosing the right textile depends on your scenario—and how to decide between duvet covers, baby blankets, rainbow towels, and bulk orders.

When I tell people I'm a quality inspector at a textile company, they usually assume I spend my days counting threads. In reality, I spend most of my time reviewing batches—roughly 200+ unique items a year—and rejecting the ones that won't hold up in real use. Scenario 3: You need towels with color variety

Rainbow bath towel sets are a great example of how marketing makes things look simpler than they are. The most vibrant colors are often the first to bleed, and the color matching across the set can be inconsistent between dye lots. If you're ordering for a hotel or spa, you need to know that a restock six months from now will still match the original set.

I use Pantone tolerance checks for any custom color. If your green towel is a Delta E of 1.8 off from the previous batch, that's acceptable. If it's 4 or 5 off, it'll be visible on the shelf. For absorbency, look at GSM (grams per square meter) and the yarn twist. A 600 GSM towel can feel plush but may take too long to dry in a humid bathroom. Scenario 4: You're buying in bulk and looking for a deal
